Student Code of Conduct
Last reviewed: July 2026
This Student Code of Conduct sets out the behaviour CAQA RTO, part of CAQA Groups and a Career Calling International initiative, expects of every person enrolled in a nationally recognised qualification or skill set through this website. Because our training is delivered online and in blended mode across Australia, the code applies wherever study happens: in the student portal, in video sessions and competency conversations, in written and practical assessments, in workplaces used for training, and in every dealing with our staff and your fellow students.
Our commitment to you
Conduct works both ways. CAQA RTO commits to providing a safe, inclusive learning environment free from racism, discrimination and harassment, a culturally safe environment for First Nations students, reasonable adjustment for students with disability, and support services at no extra cost, including a dedicated trainer/assessor, language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy assistance and a designated Student Support Officer for wellbeing concerns.
Respectful behaviour
Students must treat trainers, assessors, support staff and other students with courtesy and respect. Bullying, harassment, discrimination, intimidation, offensive language and disruptive behaviour are not acceptable in any learning environment, including discussion boards, email, phone calls and video sessions. Behaviour that would be unlawful in the community, such as threats or vilification, is equally unacceptable in study.
Academic integrity
All assessment work you submit must be your own. Plagiarism, collusion, contract cheating, submitting work generated wholly by another person or tool and presented as your own, and falsifying evidence for assessment or recognition of prior learning are serious breaches. Assessment and RPL decisions rely on the authenticity of your evidence; dishonest submissions undermine the national recognition your qualification carries. Where academic misconduct is found, affected assessments may be invalidated and re-assessment required.
Conduct in the student portal and online systems
Keep your student portal login secure and do not share it with anyone. Do not attempt to access other students' records, upload unlawful or offensive material, interfere with the operation of our systems, or use our platforms to promote unrelated commercial ventures. Technical problems should be reported to the helpdesk via info@caqa.com.au rather than worked around in ways that put systems or data at risk.
Progress, participation and honesty in dealings
You are expected to participate genuinely in your course, respond to engagement check-ins, attend scheduled sessions or arrange alternatives in advance, and keep your contact details, and your USI details, current. Provide honest and accurate information in your enrolment, assessments and any application for RPL or credit transfer, and pay agreed fees under your Enrolment Agreement and our Fees and Refunds policy.
Breaches and fair process
Suspected breaches are handled fairly and proportionately. Minor matters are usually resolved through conversation and guidance. Serious or repeated breaches may lead to formal warnings, invalidated assessments, suspension or, as a last resort, cancellation of enrolment. Before any serious sanction is imposed you will be told what is alleged, shown the information relied on, and given a genuine opportunity to respond, with a support person if you wish. Any refund implications are worked out under the Fees and Refunds policy; no additional penalty fees apply.
Your right of appeal
Every conduct decision can be appealed at no cost through our Complaints and Appeals process, with review by a person independent of the original decision and access to external mediation or the National VET Regulator if you remain dissatisfied.
Information we collect under this code
Where a conduct matter is investigated we record the allegation, the evidence considered, your response and the outcome. These records are kept confidential, used only to manage the matter and meet our regulatory obligations, and handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Limits of this information
This code is a plain-English statement of expectations, not legal advice, and it does not replace the detailed policies in the Student Handbook or the terms of your Enrolment Agreement, which prevail if there is any inconsistency.
